17th C. Ottoman / Turkish Kalkan Shield. Circular convex form constructed of spiral wound cane with six-point crossed iron guard over central domed plate, iron bound rim, and (24) s shaped platelets. Interior is lined with fabric and woven leather straps. 17.25 inches diameter, 5 inches tall.
