19th C. Indo-Persian Leather Dhal Shield. Circular, black lacquered leather shield with four raised bosses, tooled central medallion and border, and horsehair mane decoration. The red lacquered interior has four eyelet strap mounts and a gilt painted border. Dimensions: 24 inches diameter by 3 inches height.
