Trapdoor single shot, caliber .45-70 government, S/N 101047, "U.S. Springfield" next to engraved eagle on lock plate, "U.S. Model 1873" engraved at breech, 32-5/8 in. barrel, "V", "P", and "Eagles Head" hallmarks on left side of barrel, raised blade front sight, two sling swivels at front barrel band and at trigger guard, steel butt plate with "US" mark, inspectors square cartouche on left side of stock above trigger, "P" in circle mark near trigger guard on buttstock, overall 52 in.
